About 66% of Nepal's population is engaged in agriculture. Agriculture accounts for 1/3 of the country's GDP and contributes greatly to the national economy. Agriculture creates jobs ranging from agriculture to small businesses. Nepal is vulnerable to food insecurity and frequent natural disasters such as floods, droughts, landslides, earthquakes, outbreaks of disease and pests. The country's agricultural sector is still dominated by subsistence farming, resulting in low productivity and production of agricultural products. The Nepal International Agricultural Technology Expo aims to create a platform to showcase and introduce the best and latest agricultural inputs, products, services and technologies that will drive future agricultural development. It will also serve as a platform to bring together some of the best minds in the global agricultural sector, as well as key representatives from government, industry, academia and the agricultural community, to discuss, deliberate, set priorities and propose an agenda for the development of the country's agricultural sector.
