The Yangtze River Maritime Safety Administration has optimized and adjusted 73 ship waiting anchorage areas and temporary mooring zones for vessels transiting the Three Gorges Dam.
To effectively alleviate the demand for ship docking during the maintenance period of the Three Gorges South Line ship lock and the Gezhouba No. 2 ship lock, and to fully ensure the navigation guarantee during the construction period of key national water-related projects, on March 12, the Yangtze River Maritime Bureau optimized and adjusted the temporary docking areas for ships waiting to pass through the Three Gorges and Gezhouba hubs on the Chongqing to Wuhan section, and announced 73 waiting anchorages and temporary docking areas, which can accommodate more than 1,900 waiting ships.
The Yangtze River maritime department implements coordinated control and integrated traffic management for ships passing through the locks, setting up dedicated anchorage positions for ordinary cargo ships and ships carrying dangerous goods according to the type of ships passing through the locks, ensuring that all types of ships can "dock safely and securely." By guiding ships to anchor in designated areas and staggering navigation according to the lock passage scheduling plan, it achieves "stable docking and orderly navigation" for ships.
The Yangtze River maritime department reminds all relevant shipping companies, ships, and crew that during the docking and entry/exit of waiting anchorages and temporary docking areas, they must strictly comply with water traffic safety and anti-pollution regulations, and it is strictly prohibited to mix anchor with other ships. Special attention should be paid to the Yichang Gulaobei temporary docking area located on the left bank of the midstream channel at kilometers 603.0 to 605.5, where ships should limit their speed to the minimum speed that maintains safe rudder effectiveness when entering and exiting, and except for necessary situations of ship avoidance contact, sounding signals are prohibited.
